Lanzarote is the most volcanic island of the Canary archipelago by nature. In the north of this beautiful destination we can find several places that were designed by the artist César Manrique. Today we bring you the most emblematic places in the north of Lanzarote.
They are located inside a volcanic tunnel produced by the eruptions of the Corona Volcano.
In the Jameos del Agua we can find a habitat of small crabs and cultural activities. There is a palm garden with an artificial lake and a museum dedicated to volcanoes that offers various interactive activities.
The Cueva de los Verdes (Cave of the Greens) was built in 1964 by Jesús Soto, a close collaborator of César Manrique. Nowadays, the cave has been fitted out for visits, allowing visitors to take turns every 20 minutes.
Just 30 minutes by boat from Lanzarote, we find this island of 29 km belonging to the Natural Park of the Archipelago of Chinijo.
Enjoy this paradise without asphalted roads where you will fall in love with its golden sandy beaches. You can also enjoy activities such as hiking or cycling around the island.
Another of César Manrique’s most representative works in Lanzarote is the Mirador del Río. Located 500 metres from a cliff, it was inaugurated in the 1970s and is guarded by a sculpture of Manrique.
It has two large windows through which we can see the Risco de Famara and El Río. Inside, there are two large sculptures by Manrique and other decorative details typical of the artist.
This beach is 6 km long and is surrounded by the imposing Peñas del Chache, the most important elevation of the island at 670 metres high.
It is one of the surfers’ favourite beaches because of its splendid waves. A place where surfers and fishermen meet, ideal to have a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. One of the best beaches in the north of Lanzarote.
It is one of the main tourist places on the island, together with Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca. Here we can find beaches that are ideal for families, as they are shallow and calm.
It has a golf course, a water park and a gigantic aquarium, four natural beaches, and a wide and varied recreational offer. A very attractive place in the north of Lanzarote.
