The Anaga Rural Park is a natural creation that occupies a large part of the north of Tenerife. It has 14,500 hectares, which extend over the municipalities of La Laguna, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Tegueste.
It is a place that has been inhabited since ancient times, as proven by archaeological finds that show the presence of Guanche communities.
The Anaga massif is a mountainous formation between 7 and 9 million years old, being one of the oldest geological areas on the island. It is a type of forest originating in the Tertiary period and is only found in the Canary Islands, Madeira and some of the Azores.
The Anaga Rural Park was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2015, and a special protection area for birds. It also has three integral nature reserves: Tijuana, El Tejeral and Roques de Anagas. We can find ravines, dykes, rocks or pitons, plugs and mesas.
Within this park we find the village of Taganana, where the church of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves is located, one of the oldest in Tenerife.
It is ideal for lovers of hiking and sports in general. Here you can do activities such as mountain biking, horse riding and even water activities such as scuba diving, sailing, surfing, etc. It has several viewpoints where you can enjoy dream views of the island.
