One of the most important Roman works in the city is the Roman Amphitheatre. Built during the 2nd century AD, it had a capacity for 14,000 people who went there to watch gladiators, wild animals and also public executions. 

Its views of the Mediterranean are a privilege, and inside you can see the vaults and the remains of the 12th century church of Santa Maria del Miracle. One of the places to see in Tarragona.

It is one of the best preserved circuses in Western Europe. Horse and chariot races were held here. It was created in the 1st century AD and has a capacity for more than 25,000 people.

It is one of the best preserved city walls of the Roman Empire outside Italy. This wall encircled the city for about 3.5 kilometres, today at least a third of its walls are preserved. 

Rambla Nova

This is the best known street in the whole city. With a length of 1km, this promenade runs diagonally across the city centre. It was opened to the public around 1857 on the site where the old medieval wall separating the old town from the port district had just been demolished.
